Email Template: Early Information Gathering

Getting the facts about your organisation's Net Zero history is an important early step on the journey to climate action. We’ve heard it can be a challenging and time-consuming activity, especially if you’re doing it alone.

Sometimes the information you need is somewhere in a folder or a filing cabinet you didn't even know existed. So, don’t forget to reach out to others for their knowledge and assistance!

For those who’re not quite sure how to ask, here’s our suggested email template for connecting with people in your organisation who might help gather the information you need.

To make the best use of the template, we recommend tailoring it to each person that you contact. We've added some suggestions in the document list about which teams might be best placed to help with a given document, but we know each organisation is unique so don't be afraid to make it your own!

Tip: If you don’t like the formatting when you copy the template into your email app, try using the Ctrl+Shift+V (Windows) or Cmd+Option+Shift+V (Mac) keyboard shortcuts to ‘paste without formatting’.

For the next two weeks I’m gathering information on energy/efficiency to better understand where our organisation is positioned for reducing carbon emissions. I thought you might be the best person to ask for a few of these items.

I’m looking for information that might be documents, spreadsheets, data, bills, reports, emails, or links. Anything related to:

    • Analysis done by us or consultants looking at emissions or sustainability
    • Internal strategy that set targets or KPIs for our business
    • Energy-related projects, including ones we’ve completed
